Chase for wanted criminal in Chilhowie ends with his capture

The man who avoided police for several hours and was the subject of a multi-agency search near Interstate 81 was taken into custody Thursday afternoon.

A social media report from the Chilhowie Police Department showed officers cuffing and placing Marcus Ramsey into a patrol vehicle shortly after he was found.

Ramsey has several warrants out of different states that now includes Virginia after Thursday’s incident. Police had issued a lookout warning for residents in the late morning hours to not approach Ramsey as he was considered armed and dangerous.

A report from US Marshals said Ramsey had been seen in the Exit 32 area of Interstate 81 in Chilhowie traveling in a vehicle and when a traffic stop was conducted, he exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.
