Blountville woman arrested for financial exploitation of an elderly/vulnerable adult
A Blountville woman was arrested on Friday after she is said to have financially exploited a family member who was in the hospital. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says that 49 year old Julie Kitzmiller was arrested after a grand jury returned an indictment against her for one count of financial exploitation of an elderly/vulnerable adult and three counts of identity theft. Police said the investigation began as a report of identity theft as a complainant reported that loans had been taken out in the victim’s name and several charges were found on the victim’s bank account while she was hospitalized. Kitzmiller, the victim’s daughter-in-law and caretaker at the time of the alleged thefts, was arrested Friday.
