Shearer’s plant in Bristol, Virginia ceasing production
Owners of the Shearer’s Foods company on the decision to close their Bristol, Virginia production plant, causing more than 150 workers to lose their jobs.
The last bag of snack foods to be produced will happen on July 31st and the plant will be shuttered in mid September.
The prior owners, the family of JW Moore, started their potato chip business in the 1920 then opened the current plant in 1965 which was partially reconstructed after a fire in 1988.
