Temporary closures due to bear activity announced by Eastman Recreation at Bays Mountain

Eastman Recreation announced the temporary closure of its picnic area, shelters, playground and athletic facilities due to increased bear activity at its Bays Mountain Recreation Area. Eastman Recreation said after consulting with TWRA, the decision to temporarily close the Recreation Area is to ensure visitors’ safety. The closure of the recreation areas will begin Monday, July 27. The campground will close Monday, August 3. Eastman Recreation will notify team members and their families when the Recreation Area is reopened.
