Jonesborough BMA votes to secure state money for water system repairs

The Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Monday to secure $4 million from the state for repairing the town’s water system. The funds will come in the form of a Hurricane Helene emergency assistance loan and would be used to repair the town’s water intake system, which was damaged by the hurricane. Sediment lagoons were being cleaned three times more frequently than before Helene. According to Mayor Kelly Wolfe, a redundant pumping system will be installed that will allow for the main intake to be taken offline for repairs.
