Washington County TN commissioners opt to break District 13 election tie without special election
Washington County, Tennessee commissioners voted Monday night to cast the deciding vote in the tied 13th district commission race in favor of incumbent Republican Kenneth Huffine. It was a 14 to one vote. Commissioner Jodi Jones abstained and Huffine voted in favor of re-electing himself. The decision came after a lengthy public comment session where every person reportedly spoke in favor of calling for a runoff, including Huffine’s Democratic opponent Cindy Humphrey. Both during and after the vote, numerous people in the audience interrupted the meeting. Once the votes were cast, people began chanting, Shame!
