Communications towers vandalized in Hawkins County, one person arrested

One person was arrested after communications towers in Hawkins County were vandalized over the weekend. Vandals took communications towers offline early Sunday morning, with cellular and private communications towers also reportedly damaged and burglarized. The Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency and E-911 director restored emergency services to operational status around 5 a.m. One man was arrested around 3 p.m. Sunday and items related to the thefts and vandalism were recovered. The suspect’s name was not released. The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing.
