TDEC: Eastman Chemical Company violated air pollution permits

Eastman Chemical Company was ordered to pay $51,000 after TDEC reported the company violated its air pollution permits at its Kingsport plant. TDEC issued an assessment of civil penalty ordering Eastman to pay the fine on July 24. During an inspection by TDEC in November 2025, the department found that annual inspection records were missing and some daily inspections had not been conducted. TDEC also reported that air emissions exceeded the permitted amount on several occasions. According to Eastman and TDEC’s records, the fine has been paid and the case was resolved on Aug. 24.
