Greene County looks to tighten data center zoning rules

Big changes could be coming to Greene County data center regulations. The County Commission is moving to tighten zoning rules to protect neighborhoods. The proposed updates won’t ban data centers, but they will enforce strict oversight. Future facilities would be restricted to heavy impact zones, requiring 200-foot property setbacks and mandatory noise studies. Developers must also clear strict water and electrical usage reviews before approval. The Planning Commission will discuss these changes at it’s meeting schedule for Tuesday, October 13th.
