Wise County waterline replacement project secures funding

Wise County residents are getting a major infrastructure upgrade thanks to a brand-new federal grant. The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded over five-hundred and twenty-nine thousand dollars to fund critical waterline replacements along Ramsey Road and U.S. Route 58. Local officials say the current, aging system has plagued the area with continuous, costly leaks that are notoriously difficult to access. The new funding will replace and realign seventeen-hundred linear feet of deteriorating pipe. Congressman Morgan Griffith’s office noted the money will modernize local infrastructure to secure reliable, potable drinking water for the community. Crews will also install brand-new gate valves and abandonment caps to prevent future system failures.
