Officers use deadly force to end Kingsport incident

A confrontation at a Kingsport apartment complex between Sheriff’s Deputies and a wanted suspect Sunday morning ended with gunfire.

A preliminary report from the TBI said officers arrived just after 8 a.m. at City View Apartments off Bloomingdale Pike to serve warrants on 30-year-old Joshua Delp after the officers received a tip about the suspect’s location.

A county statement said once Delp made contact with the four deputies, he produced a weapon, and the incident ended when the officers opened fire. The TBI spent the afternoon processing the crime scene which stretched to either end of one complex.

They will determine what occurred prior to Delp’s shooting, leaving him dead at the scene, then present that information to District Attorney Barry Staubus for further review in determining if use of force was necessary.
