Artazn in Greene County looking at 50 acre site for possible expansion
The Greene County Commission has approved a first refusal resolution concerning zinc manufacturer Artazn and a $1.5 million 50-acre property in the county. Artazn was the manufacturer behind the copper flats later minted into the penny, which was discontinued in November. Since then, Artazn has been looking to expand its international line, manufacturing coinage for other countries, such as Ukraine and Canada, and potentially looking for more space. The manufacturer is looking at the 50-acre county-owned property that already has the infrastructure it needs. While ownership is not guaranteed, the county will communicate with Artazn if a bid on the property is made, then Artazn can either match or exceed the bid or refuse the purchase. Artazn has been a longtime employer and revenue generator for Greene County.
