Blaney speaks on Bristol brawl on podcast: “I deserved it”

In his first interview since his dust-up with Spire Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar at Bristol Motor Speedway, Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney told show host Denny Hamlin that he regrets the pit road fight because he set a poor example for his younger fans on how to handle frustration.

Blaney said on “Actions Detrimental” podcast he got his a** kicked by Hocevar and thinks both of them should take responsibility for the spin with under 50 laps to go in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. Blaney noted the closer to the finish, the angrier he got behind the wheel, charting a course for Hocevar’s pit after the race.

In case you were wondering, the man who pulled Blaney away from Hocevar was NASCAR security official Allen Taylor—a former Secret Service agent for President Barack Obama, according to racing series journalist Jeff Gluck.

There’s been no word as of Monday afternoon if the drivers, both who are in Cup Serie post-season, will face any penalties from NASCAR.
