Bristol Tennessee police investigate double homicide on Lilly Street
Bristol, Tennessee Chief of Police Matt Austin said two people were dead and another person received life-threatening injuries after a midnight shooting on Lilly Street.
The suspect was identified by the chief as 18-year-old Elijah Campbell who Austin said called Bristol Virginia police following the incident and told officers he wanted to turn himself in. Campbell was reportedly met by officers and surrendered without incident, Austin said at a Sunday morning news conference.
A city-issued report said two victims were dead at the scene and medical help was called for the third individual. Those victims have been identified through confirmed social media accounts as Lexy Coleman, 21, and Deonte Wright, 19. The man critically wounded was also identified online by family and friends as Kevin Collin.
Austin said they will proceed with extradition steps to bring Campbell back to Tennessee. The chief said the investigation remains active and asked for any tips from the commmunity on the Lilly Street shooting; those can be made by email at nbrooks@bristoltn.gov or by calling (423) 989-5600.
