Bristol VA officials look at new roundabout project at Suncrest and Bonham

A public meeting was held on Monday for a proposed roundabout project in Bristol, Virginia. The roundabout would be located at the intersection of Suncrest Drive and Bonham Road. Community members say that with the construction of the new school, traffic volume along the roads has increased. Bristol, VA, city officials said a roundabout could be one of those ways alleviate any congestion and that it would increase safety because it would lower the speed limit. Previous attempts at applying for funds were not granted through the VDOT Smart Scale program, but officials are hopeful this new design might secure the funding.
