Burn permits required in TN beginning October 15
If you’re planning some fall yard cleanup, keep in mind that Tennessee’s official burn permit season begins October 15th. Starting then, the Tennessee Division of Forestry requires a free permit before you burn any leaf or debris piles within 500 feet of forests or grasslands. Officials warn that dry autumn leaves and lower humidity can cause small backyard fires to escape in a matter of seconds. Permits are completely free and valid for one day only. You can get a permit the morning you plan to burn by visiting BurnSafeTN.org or by downloading the MyTN app.
