Carter County Sheriff’s Office to equip officers with body cameras
Changes are coming to law enforcement in East Tennessee. For the first time ever, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to equip its patrol deputies with body-worn cameras. Chief Deputy Patrick Johnson says the department is currently vetting equipment to select the right fit. The new technology is designed to speed up investigation times and provide independent audio and visual evidence during public encounters. Once the equipment is finalized, deputies will undergo a mandatory two-part training program on camera compliance and operations. The sheriff’s office expects to have the cameras officially deployed in the field by Spring 2027.
