Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger introduces bill to eliminate pharmacy owned PMB’s
Congresswoman Diana Harshbarger has reintroduced a bill to ban companies from jointly owning pharmacy benefit managers and pharmacies. The Tennessee General Assembly passed similar legislation last month. CVS has warned that the legislation will lead to the closure of more than 130 of its pharmacies across the state. The benefit managers act as middlemen between pharmacies and insurance companies. The bill would give a parent company in violation of the Patients Before Monopolies Act one year to divest its pharmacies. A companion bill has also been introduced in the Senate.
