Embattled Washington County TN school board member Keith Ervin to face 4 candidates in upcoming election
Washington County, Tennessee, school board member Keith Ervin has resisted calls for his resignation after he called a high school student “hot” at a board meeting. Now, former teacher Jimmy Johnson has launched a write-in campaign for the seat. Ervin’s comment sparked outrage and made national headlines. With just three candidates to pick from for the three Republican nominations in May, almost 5 percent of people wrote a name in despite no certified write-in candidates. Johnson’s write-in campaign now gives voters five choices in August for the three seats, including Ervin, fellow Republicans Annette Buchanan and Vince Walters, and Democrat Mary Grace Wooten. Voters will head to the polls on August 6.
