Erwin police announce recovery of body from Nolichucky

The day after his 25th birthday, David Dale Wiseman, Jr. entered the Nolichucky River near a church in Erwin then never resurfaced.

Nearly three days later, Chief of Police Tony Buchanan issued a statement reporting the recovery of Wiseman’s body by divers Tuesday morning. Buchanan noted the number of agencies that helped in the search with experts driving in from Greene and Washington counties along with Johnson City personnel.

Family posting messages on social media said Wiseman was a Campbell County High School graduate and a former member of the US Marine Corps.
