Former treasurer of the Volunteer Touchdown Club indicted in Hawkins County
An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has resulted in the indictment of Brittany Clawson, the former treasurer of the Volunteer Touchdown Club (VTC), a school support organization for the Volunteer Comprehensive High School football team in Hawkins County. The investigation began after VTC officers reported questionable activity. Investigators found that Clawson made six unauthorized payments totaling more than $3,200 from the VTC PayPal account to her personal PayPal account. Those funds were later transferred to a personal bank account unrelated to VTC operations. Investigators also identified at least $947.09 in personal purchases made with VTC funds, including shoes, sunglasses, and athletic apparel. The investigation also identified nearly $17,000 in questionable disbursements. Based on the investigation, the Hawkins County Grand Jury indicted Clawson on one count of theft over $2,500.
