Gas prices rise in VA, Decline in TN in latest survey of stations
According the the Latest GasBuddy survey of stations in Virginia, the average gasoline prices in have risen another 6.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.36/g. Prices in Virginia are 42.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand $1.36/g higher than a year ago. In Tennessee, the average price for a gallon is $4.11/g, a drop of about 5 cents from the previous week. The national average price of gasoline has also fallen 6.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.45/g today. Average gasoline prices declined in 40 states over the last week bringing some relief to motorists as the summer travel season is officially underway. Gasbuddy officials say that the decline is due mostly to renewed optimism surrounding a potential U.S.-Iran agreement that could potentially reopen the Straight of Hormuz.
