Investigation begins after skull discovered near Boone, North Carolina water system

Law enforcement authorities with the state and the Town of Boone, North Carolina, continue to investigate after a human skull was found near the locality’s public water intake on Winklers Creek Road.

Officers returned to that area on Tuesday, and no other remains were discovered, according to police.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will now examine the skull to determine the identity.
