JC commissioners agree to an additional $2.64 million settlement
Johnson City commissioners unanimously approved a $2.64 million settlement with additional alleged victims of Sean Williams Thursday night. The new settlement is in addition to $28 million commissioners approved for a separate settlement in February. An attorney for the city said before the vote, additional victims approached the city this summer with additional claims related to Williams. The attorney said one of the alleged victims was younger than five years old. The attorney said his team investigated the claims before recommending a settlement in exchange for no lawsuit being filed. The attorney gave no further details of that investigation and advised commissioners not to share information he gave them about the findings during an executive session. He emphasized district attorney general Steve Finney found no criminal wrongdoing by Johnson City police.
