John Mayer’s New Music Inspired By Katy Perry Split
In a new interview John Mayer explained that the studio effort serves as the first time he actually put his true emotions on the line. “I actually, for the first time in my life, believe I recorded exactly what I was feeling,” he confessed of the heartbreak he experienced following his split with the pop titan in 2014. “It was the only time in my life that sadness was like a lucid dream, like, ‘Oh, I’m here. I got no business trying to get out of this, because it won’t work.’ It was like learning to live in the wilderness.” It’s been heavily rumored that Mayer wrote his 2002 hit “Your Body is a Wonderland” about Jennifer Love Hewitt and “Paper Doll” in response to Taylor Swift’s own “Dear John.”
