Jonesborough BMA address several issues at Monday meeting
The Jonesborough Board of Mayor and Aldermen met Monday night and addressed several issues. They addressed an agreement with Atmos Energy, approved a new emergency alert system, and discussed the possibility of a new park. The BMA approved a one-year agreement with Atmos Energy after having an agreement with the company for 20 years. Officials say the plan on exploring some things in the agreement,, but for the next year things will remain the same for customers. The board also approved an emergency alert system that will replace what the town used to have with a new three or four-zone system that allows for verbal communications to be dispatched to the public. Another potential plan discussed is for a new park. The town has been working with BrightRidge about a piece of property near a substation on East Main Street and hopes to build a small park that will be a part of the new First Frontier trail system.
