Kingsport Economic Development Board looks to purchase old State Theater

The Kingsport Economic Development Board is looking to purchase the old State Theater on Broad Street for $175,000. The city says the previous owner has put money into the foundation of the property, and it is structurally sound. Chairman of the Kingsport Economic Development Board Craig Denison said that the city has snapped up a historic property many times without a solid plan for its use, and several notable developments have come from it, including Brickyard Park and Town Park Lofts. The board said it is looking forward to purchasing the old theater and revitalizing it for whatever use the space is eventually put to.
