Kingsport YMCA plans major expansion

The Greater Kingsport YMCA is planning an expansion to help meet childcare needs in Northeast Tennessee. The current childcare center and kitchen area will be converted into ten classrooms, with the new commercial kitchen located to the back of the building. The new childcare center will have 145 licensed slots, ages from six weeks through preschool. Children will have structured activities and physical education time. Part of the construction will be a mini gymnasium. Construction on the expansion will begin this Fall, and opening is set for Fall 2027.
