One dead, one injured in fatal fire at North Carolina home owned by NASCAR’s Denny Hamlin
A home in North Carolina owned by NASCAR Cup Series driver and car owner Denny Hamlin was leveled by a fire Sunday evening that resulted in one person being killed.
Published reports said the house in Stanley, North Carolina was the home of his parents, Dennis and Mary Lou Hamlin, but the names of the victims had not been released by law enforcement as of 1:30 pm EST. The report also said another person was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Lucia Riverbed Fire Chief David Toomey told TMZ the home was a complete loss and 10 departments from surrounding areas assisted with containment due to the lack of fire hydrants near the Hamlin home. Two people were outside of the home when crews arrived but their identities were not disclosed, the report said.
