One person dead, 4 injured in Abingdon Bus accident
One person is dead and four others are injured following a head-on collision involving an Abingdon High School bus just outside Mountain City. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that a Subaru crossed the center line on State Route 91 Friday night, striking the northbound school bus in the front end. The bus was carrying 28 occupants home from a football game against Johnson County High School. The driver of the Subaru, identified as 35-year-old Douglas McMillan, died at the scene. The bus driver and three student-athletes were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. Washington County and Abingdon school officials released a joint statement expressing deep gratitude to the first responders and the Johnson County community for their immediate support during the crisis.
