‘Overwhelming concern’ warrants reminder from Big Stone Gap police for Wise Pride event

Big Stone Gap’s police chief is warning protesters to maintain their distance from a scheduled Wise Pride event scheduled for Saturday.

In a statement posted online, Chief Matthew Russell also reminded all parties headed to Bullitt Park that exercising your Constitutional rights is allowed but in a safe manner that does not endanger attendees, event organizers, and performers or prohibit the safe entry for the venue.

Drag performances are planned for the second annual LGBTQ festival being held in Wise County.
