‘Princess Diaries 3’ With Anne Hathaway & Julie Andrews Could Happen
Last March, director Gary Marshall spoke about a conversation he had with Anne Hathaway regarding a possible third installment of the Princess Diaries franchise, revealing, “It looks like we want to do Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan,” but “Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it.” But in July of 2016, Marshall died of complications from pneumonia following a stroke, so ideas for the sequel were tabled. Fast forward to February 2017: Julie Andrews, who played Queen Clarisse Renaldi, spoke to BuzzFeed while promoting her Netflix show, Julie’s Greenroom, and said Princess Diaries 3 may still happen in Marshall’s honor. “There’s talk about it,” Andrews said. “And [Hathaway]’s very keen to do it. I would very willingly and happily do it.” She added: “I think we might do it in honor of him. Annie had an idea that she wanted to pursue about it, and I’m all for it, so if she’d like to….”
