RCR places No. 8 in reserve while Bristol Motor Speedway posts Colossus tribute to Busch
Car owner Richard Childress has placed the number 8 of Kyle Busch into reserve following the driver’s death on Thursday.
A statement from RCR said no one can carry that number to the level that Busch did and the stylized No. 8 had become synonymous with the Las Vegas native. Busch’s car will be operated by RCR’s O’Reilly Series driver Austin Hill in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte.
Childress also said the number 8 is being held for Busch’s son Brexton to use when he starts his NASCAR career.
On Friday, officials at Bristol Motor Speedway posted a tribute to Busch on their Colossus video screen that hangs above the track where Busch won 23 times across three series, more than any driver in the history of the sport.
