Reported shootout at Norton motel leaves one person injured

Charges are pending after eyewitnesses at a Southwest Virginia motel reported hearing multiple gunshots.

A city report from Norton said officers investigated parts of the Econo Lodge property in the 500 block of Highway 58 where guests said two men were exchanging gunfire then left.

Police plan to question a man brought into Lonesome Pine Hospital’s emergency room later that evening with a gunshot wound while the search continues for the other alleged shooter.
