Resolution fails to abolish constables in Greene County
A resolution in Greene County that would have abolished the office of constable failed to get the required two-thirds majority on second reading at Monday night’s Commission meeting. The resolution passed on first reading at the commission’s October meeting. Last year, a similar resolution also failed to pass on second reading. Commissioner Chase Murray argued against getting rid of constables, noting, they are required to complete 128 hours in training within the first year and a minimum of 40 hours in post-commission training required by the State of Tennessee.
