Serious injuries reported in Carter County crash

A woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a crash on State Route 91 in Stoney Creek. According to a crash report from the THP, a Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on SR 91 near Lewis Cole Loop when it crossed into the continuous center turning lane, entered the southbound lane and struck a Toyota Corolla that was traveling southbound. The driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old woman, was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Jeep, a 62-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to JCMC as well. The driver of the Jeep has been charged and additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
