State grant to aid in purchase of new ambulance in Carter County
Carter County Mayor Patty Woodby announced the future delivery of an updated unit to the locality’s 12 ambulance fleet of the Emergency & Rescue Squad.
The new vehicle equipped with a lift for disabled patients will replace an aging unit with high miles and continued maintenance.
The purchase will be made with a grant of more than $300,000 awarded by the Department of Health’s Last Mile Team initiative that aids rescue squads in rural areas.
“This ambulance represents much more than a new vehicle,” said Terry Arnold, director of the Carter County Emergency & Rescue Squad in a prepared statement. “It represents reliability, safety, and our commitment to providing the highest level of emergency medical care to every person who calls 911. Every minute matters during an emergency, and having dependable equipment ensures our crews can focus on saving lives.”
