TBI investigation concludes with criminal charges against for former Erwin law enforcement
The former police chief of Erwin, his wife who was also a department officer and a police captain were all indicted by a Unicoi County grand jury.
Regan Tilson, Tiffany Tilson and Wayne Edwards each face six charges that include theft over $10,000, tampering with governmental records and misconduct. The three turned themselves in and were formally booked into the county jail, according to a TBI report.
Regan Tilson was suspended then fired by Erwin officials after failing a breathalyzer test in July while the former chief and Edwards were decertified last month by an agency that regulates law enforcement standards. The report said Tiffany Tilson was implicated when the trio allegedly forged official documents that showed state-sanction training had been completed.
