TDOT announces speed Limit change from 65 to 55mph on Highway 11E

The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday that it has lowered the speed limit on Highway 11E, also known as Andrew Johnson Highway. The speed limit on Highway 11E from Greene County to near the Jonesborough town limits is now 55 mph. TDOT said it also received a request from Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy’s office to reduce the speed limit on the roadway. As the school year is set to get underway, Grandy said the speed limit change could improve school zone safety.
