TN General Assembly approves state budget
The Tennessee General Assembly has approved a $58 billion state budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The budget places emphasis on fiscal restraint alongside targeted investments in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public safety. Lawmakers say the new budget is a continuation of the state’s longstanding focus on financial stability while addressing key needs across state. The final legislative amendment redirected $282.4 million from the governor’s original proposal to fund $276.4 million in legislative priorities, with the remaining reserves will be left to guard against economic uncertainty.
