United Way of SWVA receives $500,000 grant for disaster recovery work
The United Way of Southwest Virginia received a 2-year, $500,000 grant to strengthen its disaster recovery work. The funding is from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which will support long-term recovery from recent storms, including Hurricane Helene and Winter Storm Jett and expand preparedness and resilience efforts across the region, working directly with individuals and families. The new funding is set to roll out in January of 2026.
