Volunteers searching for new defensive coordinator
Tennessee football defensive coordinator Tim Banks has been let go by Head Coach Josh Heupel after five years in Knoxville.
Heupel said in a prepared statement dismissing Banks was a tough decision but one he felt necessary for the future of the program.
A report from UT Athletics said linebackers coach Brandon Inge will serve as interim coordinator for the Vols’ December 30th appearance in the Music City Bowl in Nashville.
Banks was nominated for the Broyles Award while at Tennessee. That award goes to college football’s best assistant coach for that year. Banks has been rumored to be a candidate for the head coaching job at Toledo, according to published reports.
