VSP investigation determines no charges against Weber City policemen
Investigators with the Virginia State Police and special prosecutor Fuller Cridlin of Lee County both concluded the evidence presented by the town of Weber City for embezzlement against two former police officers does not warrant criminal charges.
In a review statement, Cridlin said Weber City administration lacked policies to properly evaluate the timecard completion process to match up with the town council’s allegations of tampering with timecards.
The town’s police chief and staff sergeant were fired by a council vote last month based on an internal review. Scott County deputies have been providing patrols for the town since those departures.
