Weber City VFD Hosts “Magic of Christmas” event

The Weber City Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Magic of Christmas event Saturday for community members. Congressman Morgan Griffith and Delegate Terry Kilgore presented a $600,000 check to Volunteer Fire Chief Bruce Cross. The grant money received Saturday will go towards a newer, bigger facility in the old Food City off US Highway 23 North. The Weber City Volunteer Fire Department had been awarded the grant a few years ago but it was postponed due to the Government shutdown. Once complete, the station will become a Red Cross Certified shelter and next door will have a Fire Department museum for the community and will also be used to teach young kids about fire safety.
