White Pine Police: Greeneville man charged with child sex crimes

The White Pine Police Department has arrested a Greeneville man charged him with child sex crimes. Police said 58 year old Thomas C. Payne is facing one count of child rape and five counts of aggravated sexual battery. Authorities said the investigation started after a report was filed on March 12 and the allegations involve incidents that happened between January 2022 to December 2023. The victim was reportedly between the ages of 11 and 12 at the time of the offenses. The case remains active and that additional charges are expected in the near future, in another jurisdiction.
