Good Financial Planning Allows Kingsport Board To Return Funds To Budget

In a time when it’s difficult to accomplish, thanks to some good planning, and a positive General Fund balance and Regional sales and property tax receipts, the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman is returning the profits to city coffers. City Manager Chris McCartt says city staff successfully navigated through a tough situation and even planned for fuel increases which are now in full swing. The budget adjustments will be reflected in the General Fund, tax collections as well as a portion of the Hotel Motel Tax for fiscal year 2022.
